The Action Democratic Party, ADP is the most vibrant opposition political party among the nineteen (19) political parties registered by the Independent Electoral Commission, INEC.

ADP has functional structures across the thirty six states of the federation with its National Secretariat in Abuja, FCT and the seven hundred and seventy four local council areas as well as in all the ward areas.

Since registration and debut as a political party in June 2017, the party has not only actively participated in all elections at the federal and states level, it has recorded several appreciable successes at the polls. The party’s experience in election started in 2019 when it fielded candidates in the presidential, governorship, federal and state houses of assembly.

ADP has also increasingly become the most daring and consistently vocal of all the opposition political parties in Nigeria.

The Action Democratic Party, ADP was one of the few political parties that emerged from the various clusters of the disenchanted groups and individuals committed to the clamour for a change from the frightful incompetence, corruption, impunity, nepotism and gross lack of focus and vision of the ruling APC administration.

Soon after its emergence as a political party, a tumultuous number of citizens, mostly the youth, women, people with disabilities and other segments of the populace who felt disillusioned and embittered throng to the ADP.

As a result, the ADP very early in the day became like a whirlwind that reverberated in all parts of the country. Not unexpectedly, the ADP as a political party and many of its outstanding members soon became the focal point of an array of sabotage; intrigues, blackmail and machination spur from forces who were threatened by its burgeoning profile.

Obviously, the attraction of the broad spectrum of citizens to the Action Democratic Party was based on the party’s inclusive, nationalist and progressive philosophy and progress contained in its constitution and manifesto.

The track records of integrity and patriotism of the core founding fathers of the party ab initio would have further endeared many to join the Action Democratic Party, ADP.

ADP OUTINGS IN ELECTIONS SINCE INCEPTION

Barely one year after its registration as a political party, the ADP in 2018, participated in the off season governorship elections in Ekiti and Osun States where the party’s flag bearers came third.  The ward elections as attested by domestic and foreign observers, marred by violence and other forms of electoral malpractices were more or less a rigging competition between the ruling APC and the PDP.

The ADP also featured in the General Elections of 2019 and was again placed third position in the presidential election and won a seat in the Senate and House of Representatives as well as in some State Houses of Assembly.
