FORMER GOVERNOR LADOJA CROWNED 44TH OLUBADAN OF IBADANLAND

ADP Lagos: A Triumph of True Leadership, A Reflection for Lagos Government.

Ibadan, the heartbeat of Oyo State, erupted in joy and celebration on Friday as former governor, Senator Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, ascended the throne as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland.

The coronation of the respected elder statesman was not only a moment of cultural pride but a statement of what leadership ought to represent in Nigeria.

Senator Ladoja, remembered for his pro-people policies and his uncommon humility while serving as governor, has become a symbol of service, sacrifice, and grassroots connection.

His elevation is widely seen as a reminder that integrity and compassion remain the true pillars of leadership.

While Ibadanland rejoiced, the Action Democratic Party (ADP) Lagos seized the moment to draw a sharp contrast between genuine leadership, as embodied by the new Olubadan, and the shortcomings of the ruling APC government in Lagos.

In a strongly worded statement, ADP Lagos congratulated the Olubadan but also threw a challenge to the ruling party: “We celebrate His Imperial Majesty, Senator Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, a man who has proven that leadership is about service, humility, and love for the people. His coronation is a triumph of tradition and dignity. Yet, while Ibadan celebrates, Lagos suffers. Our people are trapped under decades of APC misrule – governments that have reduced Lagosians to beggars in their own land while enriching a select few. This is the shameful difference.”

The party condemned what it called the “politics of exploitation” in Lagos, where unemployment, rising taxes, poor infrastructure, and widening poverty define daily life despite the state’s vast resources. “Lagosians deserve leaders like Ladoja – leaders who see power as service, not as an avenue for selfishness. For over two decades, APC has milked Lagos dry, building empires for the elite while abandoning the people. ADP is here to break that chain of oppression. If Ibadan can enthrone a man of dignity, Lagos can enthrone true progress by rejecting APC in 2027,” the statement added.

The coronation of Senator Ladoja, ADP Lagos said, should serve as inspiration for Lagosians to rise against entrenched political exploitation. It called on citizens to join the ADP Welfare Movement, a movement dedicated to placing the people first, ensuring welfare for all, and building a Lagos where government works for the masses, not for the privileged few.

As Ibadan drums beat in celebration of their new monarch, ADP Lagos insists Lagos must beat its own drums of liberation. “Enough of deception, enough of hardship. Leadership must return to the people. ADP stands ready to deliver that change,” the party concluded.

For Lagosians, the message is clear: the spirit of true leadership lives on in Ibadan. It is time for Lagos to embrace its own liberation.
