For over two decades, Lagos has been held captive by a political empire that feeds fat while the people grow thinner by the day. The ruling party boasts of progress, yet the ordinary Lagosian cannot see it reflected in his stomach, in his home, in his transportation, or in the quality of his children’s education. They have converted democracy into a dynasty – where power circulates among the few, and poverty circulates among the many.
THE TRUE MEANING OF POLITICS AND DEMOCRACY:
Politics is about the people’s welfare. Democracy is the voice of the governed. When either is silenced, tyranny reigns. Where is the welfare of the people?
Where are the dividends of democracy?
The ruling party boasts of megacities, yet millions of Lagosians live in mini-poverty. They build bridges of concrete, but never bridges of opportunity. They promise empowerment, but only empower their cronies. They privatize public wealth and socialize public suffering.
This is not democracy – it is modern slavery in disguise.
